The DJI Pocket 2 remains a capable compact gimbal camera, but limited practical battery life can make longer vlogging sessions difficult. The Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Pocket 4 provide longer rated operating times, faster charging, larger sensors, and more convenient solo-shooting features. However, the best upgrade depends on whether battery endurance, image quality, recording workflow, or portability is the main priority.
Why Battery Life Is the Real Upgrade Question
The Pocket 2 has an official operating-time rating of approximately 140 minutes under controlled conditions while recording 1080p video. A practical recording time of only 45 minutes to one hour can still occur when using demanding settings, maintaining a bright display, connecting wireless accessories, or repeatedly powering the camera on and off. Battery aging may also become relevant because many Pocket 2 units have now been used for several years.
The reported 45-to-60-minute result should be treated as an individual experience rather than a universal measurement. Recording resolution, frame rate, temperature, battery condition, stabilization activity, wireless connections, and screen use can all change the result. Two owners using the same camera may therefore experience noticeably different operating times.
A laboratory runtime figure is a standardized comparison point, not a guarantee of continuous real-world recording time.
