What the Devices Are
The new Asus and Dell Windows 365 mini PCs are designed primarily as cloud PC endpoints. Instead of relying on powerful local processors, large internal storage, or locally installed desktop software, they connect users to a Windows desktop running in Microsoft’s cloud environment.
This means the device itself is closer to a managed terminal than a conventional home PC. The main local requirements are display output, network connectivity, input support, device security, and stable access to the cloud session.
Why Thin Clients Are Returning

Whether they reduce waste or create a new kind of locked-down dependency will depend on pricing, lifespan, service policies, repairability, and how easily the hardware can be reused later.
